A 24-year-old Waianae man is in police custody after allegedly threatening a 50-year-old man with a knife and taking his vehicle last month, police said.

Police said the man was sitting in the victim’s vehicle the afternoon of Aug. 24 when he threatened the older man with a knife, took the keys out of the ignition and took his wallet.

The older man escaped and saw the assailant drive away in his vehicle without permission, police said.

Plainclothes officers found the suspect about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on Farrington Highway in Waianae and arrested him for investigation of first-degree robbery and kidnapping.
