APA officials at Hawaiian Brian’s
American Poolplayers Association co-founder and professional player Terry Bell and national president Renee’ Lyle are featured guests of Oahu APA at Hawaiian Brian’s Billiards on Wednesday starting at 8 p.m.
Bell will show off trick shots and Lyle will answer questions about the league. The event is free and open to the public.
Oahu APA also is sponsoring the Shoot for the Cure, a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Hawaii affiliate on Oct. 30, also at Hawaiian Brian’s, starting at noon.

2 teams to junior nationals
Mid Pacific Tennis Academy and K2TENS will represent Hawaii at the 2011 USTA Junior 14-under Team Tennis National Championships. The tournament is Oct. 20-23 at Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, in Surprise, Ariz. The tournament will crown national champions at both the advanced and intermediate levels.
Members of the Mid Pacific team, competing in the advanced division, are Jordan Azuma, Tristen Bryant-Otake, Katreina Corpuz, McKenna Jay Fujitani, Nanea Perkins, Sian Reno Rogers and Kasey Tamamoto.
K2TENS Intermediate players are Cameron Brewer, Norton Kishi, Dylan Lawton, Kaori Murakawa, Rachael Naone, Sophia Nishimura, Irvin Santos, Luke Savage and Matt Takane.
There are nearly 100,000 participants in Junior Team Tennis across the country.

Doubles Exhibition, youth day this week
The public is encouraged to participate in the Doubles Exhibition with Kona’s Jan-Michael Gambill on Saturday, and the Children and Youth Day on Sunday. Both are free and part of the 25th annual Tennis Weekend.
Doubles begins at 1 p.m. with Gambill, once ranked as high as 14th in the world, joined by former Hawaii Pacific All-Americans Jan Axel Tribler, Mikael Maatta and Hendrik Bode. From 1:30 to 3 p.m., players with an NTRP rating of 3.0 or higher are invited to participate.
The Sunday Youth Day runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. around the State Capitol. Free parking is available at nearby municipal lots.
