Federal agents arrested 24 civilian contract employees working on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam this week on outstanding warrants, and three will be extradited for felony violations.

The arrests Wednesday and Thursday followed an investigation "aimed at protecting military assets and information from being compromised by unscrupulous individuals," U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations said Friday in a news release.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations were also involved in the investigation.

"Working with NCIS and OSI, HSI agents vetted the names of more than 10,000 contractors through federal, state and local law enforcement databases," said Wayne Willis, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Hawaii. "Our checks revealed that dozens of individuals had outstanding warrants for a variety of misdemeanor and felony violations."

According to the news release, agents cleared 38 warrants, three of them for felony violations.

Three of those arrested face charges in other jurisdictions and face extradition: one to California, one to Maui and one to Nevada.
