Police arrested today a 39-year-old Kapiolani area man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a 26-year-old woman in an Ala Moana area parking lot.

Police said the woman reported being held against her will at 2:26 a.m. today.

Officers found and arrested the man at 3:50 a.m. on suspicion of kidnapping, attempted first-degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault.

While in custody, police arrested the suspect for an unrelated extortion case.

The man allegedly threatened Sept. 17 to release intimate videos of a 24-year-old woman on the Internet if she did not pay him $1,085, police said.

Police arrested the man 9:30 a.m. today on suspicion of first-degree extortion.
