A teenage boy remains free after escaping about 9:10 a.m. Sunday, some 10 minutes after Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility officials dropped him and another boy off to attend a school curricular program in the near Windward Community College, officials said. 

The boys ran toward Kahekili Highway, police said.

One of the boys returned voluntarily to the youth correctional facility Monday but the second boy remains outstanding, state Human Services Director Patricia McManaman said this afternoon.
