Roberts Hawaii said Monday it is adding 25 minibuses to its fleet.
The Oahu-based transportation company said the Champion Challenger shuttle buses will be painted with Roberts’ new green hibiscus logo unveiled earlier this year and will go into service this month. Each shuttle can carry from 14 to 25 passengers.
“Continually refreshing our fleet lets us take advantage of the latest features available, things like three-point seat belts, electronic stability control, environmentally advanced engines, ergonomic seats and flat screen TVs,” said Percy Higashi, president and COO of Roberts Hawaii, in a news release. “Having more mini-buses gives us the flexibility to move more, smaller groups of customers —even if it’s just a couple — faster and more efficiently.”
Earlier this year, Roberts Hawaii updated its fleet with 20 new Prevost touring motor coaches.
Roberts Hawaii, an employee-owned business, has a fleet of approximately 900 vehicles, serving four islands: Hawaii, Kauai, Maui and Oahu. The company has 1,400 employees.
As for the familiar Roberts Hawaii rabbit, it is in “semiretirement,” said company spokeswoman Luly Unemori. The rabbit, which served as Roberts’ logo for years, is still being used by the company, but in a reduced role, Unemori said.
