Kailua woman found near tide pools
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified on Monday a 68-year-old woman who was found Sunday floating in the ocean near the Makapuu tide pools as Evelyn Austin of Kailua.
Ocean Safety personnel pulled Austin from the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She was taken to Straub Clinic & Hospital, where she died.
Skateboarder hurt in Handi-Van collision
A 11-year-old skateboarder was critically injured just before 5 p.m. Monday when he collided with a Handi-Van on Likini Street in Salt Lake.
An Emergency Medical Services supervisor said the boy was taken in critical condition to a hospital. According to EMS radio communication, the Handi-Van driver did not see the boy, who struck the side of the Handi-Van, suffering an open skull fracture and a left leg injury.
