Skater suffers critical injury in tumble
A 13-year-old boy was in critical condition Tuesday after falling while skating in Hauula.
Paramedics were sent to Waikulama Street at about 5 p.m. According to emergency dispatch reports, bystanders said the boy was skating down a hill with a helmet on and hit his head after falling backward. He tried to get up but fell back again. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.
Laborer dies following plunge from roof
A 38-year-old construction worker suffered fatal injuries Tuesday when he fell while working on the roof of a home in Kalihi, police said.
The man, identified by the Department of the Medical Examiner as Guan Sheng Chen, was taken to a nearby hospital shortly after the 10:42 a.m. incident. Chen died at the hospital, police said.
