» The Hawaii Strategic Development Corp., led by its president, Karl Fooks, is contributing $3 million to a venture capital fund that will help develop commercial applications for research being done at the University of Hawaii. A Page B5 story Wednesday misidentified the organization as the High Technology Development Corp. Also, the venture capital fund will be managed solely by the University of Hawaii Foundation, not jointly by the foundation and the HSDC.

» Ed Teixeira was appointed vice director of state Civil Defense on Jan. 10, 2000, by then-Gov. Ben Cayetano, not Gov. Linda Lingle, as was reported in a Page B1 article Wednesday.

» Of the 967 responses to Wednesday’s "Big Q" online poll question, 77 percent of respondents said wearing a helmet should be mandatory for motorcycle and mo-ped riders of all ages in Hawaii, while 23 percent disagreed. The pie chart on Page A2 Thursday reversed the results.

» Wayne Goo is a senior associate with WCIT Architecture. A caption on page B5 yesterday said Goo was representing a different organization.
