Work will close part of Alapai Street
The two right lanes of Alapai Street between South King and Beretania streets will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today during roadway construction.
City officials said Thursday that a contractor will be restoring an asphalt road section and removing steel plates. They advise motorists to use caution.
Bus patrons who normally use Alapai Street bus stops should use a temporary bus stop within the Alapai Transit Center because the buses will be rerouted to enter from South King Street, officials said.

Huge Pohakuloa fire fully contained
A large wildfire at the Army’s Pohakuloa Training Area was declared fully contained, and firefighters were extinguishing hot spots, an official said.
"We are just mopping up now and monitoring smouldering areas," Army spokesman Mike Egami said Thursday.
The wildfire, which began at about 11 a.m. Tuesday near the 45-mile marker on Saddle Road, scorched about 1,153 acres before being contained Wednesday night, Egami said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
No Army training activity was taking place at the time at the Keamuku Maneuver Area, where the fire may have begun, the Army said. There were no reports of injuries or damage to structures, the Army said.
Big Island officials reopened Saddle Road on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The road had been shut down for safety concerns because of heavy smoke between mile marker 8 and Mamalahoa Road shortly after the fire started.
Forty-four firefighters from Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii County and the state Division of Forestry and Wildlife battled the blaze.
