Kahawai Street in Manoa Valley was shut down for several hours from Lowrey Avenue to Huapala Street due to a water main break that damaged the road.

The break, reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, cut off water service to about about 22 homes. A water wagon was set up at 2936 Kahawai Street to provide water for those affected.

Board of Water Supply crews restored water service at about 10:45 p.m. after removing and replacing about 14 feet of a damaged 8-inch main.

Kahawai Street reopened at about 4:45 a.m. after crews finished fixing the roadway, a board of water supply spokesperson said.
