Turkey urges Iraq to crackdown on Kurdish rebels

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey’s foreign minister says Iraq should move to prevent Kurdish rebel attacks on his country from Iraqi soil.

Ahmet Davutoglu says that Turkey’s patience is running out and that it’s determined to eradicate the rebel threat from neighboring northern Iraq. He spoke Thursday during a joint news conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.

Kurdish rebels are using Iraq as a launch pad for attacks on Turkish targets in a war for autonomy in Turkey’s southeast. Turkish warplanes have recently struck rebel bases in Iraq.
