Fashionable fundraiser helps Barbara Ho
Fashion designer Anne Namba and jewelry designer Anna Meng will sponsor a fundraiser Wednesday to help defray medical expenses for Barbara “Barbie” Ho. The 37-year-old mother of three and wife of Hawaii News Now anchor Keahi Tucker is battling leukemia and will undergo a bone marrow transplant on the mainland the same day as the fundraiser. The event will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Anne Namba Designs, 324 Kamani St. in Kakaako.
Namba will show her fall 2011 collection, accessorized with bold jewelry designed by Meng, of the Meng Dynasty. Show attendance is free, and a percentage of all sales that evening will be donated to Barbara Ho’s Fight Against Cancer. Those wishing to help can also make a donation at the event or by mail. Checks payable to Barbara Ho can be sent to Barbara Ho c/o Barbara Ho’s Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 159252, Honolulu, HI 96815.

Hifi opens new space to creative minds
The Hawaii Fashion Incubator, or Hifi, just picked up the keys to its new fashion incubator space — still a blank slate — and is welcoming input as part of its mission to elevate Hawaii fashion as art and industry. The incubator hopes to become a hub for retail, fashion events, classes, a library and lounge, a photography studio and more.
The space is on the second floor at Ward Warehouse, above T&C Surf. Hifi is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for all with ideas to share. RSVP for the event by visiting www.hawaiifashion.org.
