Kauai police arrest man after high-speed chase
Kauai police arrested a homeless man who led them on a high-speed chase on the east side of the island Friday morning from Wailua Homesteads to Kapahi.
The pursuit began at 7:46 a.m. at the intersection of Kuhio Highway and Kuamoo Road and ended at the Moalepe Road and Kawaihau Road intersection when the 50-year-old suspect crashed a green Honda Civic into a utility pole, police said.
The man suffered minor injuries and was checked by paramedics at the scene before being arrested.
Kauai police are still looking for another man who fled into a field after a 3/4 mile police chase on Wednesday. That chase ended at Kauai Beach Drive and Kuhio Highway in Lihue when the 29-year-old driver lost control of his pickup truck and came to a stop.
Police say the suspect, David Borges, of Hanamaulu, is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted in connection with multiple criminal investigations.
