Judge orders probation for man who put camera in Kauai bathroom

LIHUE, Kauai >> The lawyer for a man sentenced to probation says his client is remorseful for putting a video camera in a women’s restroom at a Kauai hotel.

Ivan Brady Miguel was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to undergo evaluations for substance abuse and sexual disorders.

The Garden Island reported Monday that Miguel’s public defender, Christian Enright, said his client is sorry for what he did.

Miguel pleaded no contest to first-degree violation of privacy in July. He was arrested in September of last year after the camera was discovered in the restroom of a hotel athletic club.

The 38-year-old Waimea resident must register as a sex offender. He’s also ordered to not possess pornography or accounts to Internet porn sites.
