Beach park fight escalates to stabbing
A 29-year-old Hilo man was stabbed at about 11 a.m. Monday during a fight with an acquaintance on Kahoa Road near Honolii Beach Park, Hawaii County police said.
Police said he was wounded twice in the lower back and was taken in stable condition by vehicle to the Hilo Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are looking for Michael Glendon, 29, of Keaau for questioning in connection with the stabbing. Glendon is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police look into death on North Shore
Homicide detectives were investigating an unattended death Monday on the North Shore.
Police dispatch said there were initial reports of a gunshot or gunshots at about 1 p.m. coming from inside a house on Ke Nui Road.
No details were available.
Alleged jaywalker runs from police officer
A minor jaywalking incident escalated into an assault case early Sunday morning when the alleged offender tried to flee from a police officer, police said.
The 21-year-old man crossed Street in an illegal manner at about 3:40 a.m. and ran from an officer who told him to stop. The officer ran down the man and was able to subdue him, but not before both men sustained injuries. Both were taken to a hospital, treated and released.
The suspect faces charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer, disobedience to a police officer, possession of a dangerous drug and jaywalking.
