SAN DIEGO >> A man who police say tried to rob a San Diego 7-Eleven while wearing a Gumby suit has been charged with misdemeanor burglary.

The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/qOl2hb) reports Friday that 19-year-old Jacob Kiss and the man authorities say was his accomplice, 20-year-old Jason Giramma, were charged in San Diego Superior Court.

Police say the men entered the store early Sept. 5. The Times says Kiss acknowledged wearing the Gumby suit. A clerk said the Gumby character claimed to have a gun but in a television interview, Kiss said the clerk misunderstood him.

Kiss and Giramma turned themselves in and the Gumby suit was seized.

Arraignment for the pair is scheduled for Nov. 8. It is unclear whether the case will be prosecuted as a crime or a prank.
