SALT LAKE CITY » A Utah man was arrested Monday in Ewa Beach in connection to a 1997 Utah murder after DNA linked him to the killing.

The Salt Lake County district attorney’s office says 59-year-old Alan Lee Marx was arrested and also charged Monday in the Salt Lake City murder.

Prosecutors say DNA found in 1997 on a bloody shirt near the body of Ward Woolverton was recently linked to Marx.

Prosecutors say Marx and Woolverton were seen drinking together in the days before Woolverton was killed. Both men also were staying at a nearby Salt Lake City homeless shelter at the time.

An autopsy found Woolverton died from head wounds. It wasn’t immediately clear if Marx had an attorney.
