A Honolulu police officer in plain clothes caught two Waimanalo men breaking into a tourist’s rental car to take a woman’s bag at Sandy Beach Monday.
Police said the officer observed a 50-year-old man smash the window of a rental car at Sandy Beach and then reach in and take a bag belonging to a 31-year-old woman.
The suspect then jumped into a car driven by a 33-year-old man, but the two were stopped by police a short distance away and arrested.
The pair are facing a charge of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
