Rainbow Wahine volleyball team sweeps Nevada
The Hawaii women’s volleyball team closed its final regular-season Western Athletic Conference road trip with a sweep of Nevada today in Reno, Nev.
Kanani Danielson put down 13 kills and Jane Croson added 12 and UH extended its winning streak to 19 with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-17 victory over the Wolf Pack.
Danielson hit .478 for the Rainbow Wahine (24-1, 12-0 WAC), Brittany Hewitt had six kills in eight attempts and contributed four blocks and Chanteal Satele finished with five kills.
Hawaii hit .333 in the first game while nine hitting errors contributed to a .034 showing for Nevada and the Wahine put the game away with a 7-0 closing run.
Nevada posted three aces in its first five serves in the second game to prompt UH head coach Dave Shoji to take an early timeout with the Wahine trailing 5-1. UH rallied after a timeout and built a 19-15 lead. But the Wolf Pack again fought back and tied the game at 21 on a kill by Bonnie Paul.
Danielson and Croson then combined to end the Wolf Pack threat. Danielson put down a kill after a timeout and Croson followed with another. An ace by Danielson gave UH set point which Croson converted with her fifth kill of the game.

An early six-point run gave UH control of the third game and a kill by Emily Hartong gave UH match point at 24-13. Nevada ran off the next four points, two on blocks by Tessa Lea’ea, but Croson’s kill off the Nevada block ended the match.
