Workers from GP Builders installed a wire fence along the Ewa side of the Honolulu Police Department headquarters on South Beretania Street today in anticipation of next week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

The workers said they were only putting fencing up along the Ewa side of the building.

HPD spokeswoman Caroline Sluyter, in a statement, said:  “Temporary barriers and fencing are part of the security measures put in place for APEC and will be removed after the event.”

Sluyter also said public access into the station will be curtailed during APEC week. Walk-in service for police reports will not be available and the HPD museum will be closed.
