Makaha man arrested in attacks on woman
Police arrested a 51-year-old Makaha man Monday after a woman said he attacked or threatened her several times this month.
Police said the suspect was arguing with the 34-year-old Waianae-area woman on Nov. 5 when he punched her several times in the face and yanked her hair, causing her to fall and hit a bed frame. The man allegedly threatened to kill her.
The woman sought treatment at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, where she reported the incident.
On Sunday, police said, the woman was with a 40-year-old man in Waianae when the suspect punched the woman in the face through the window of a car and hit the man with a pipe.
When the woman and the 40-year-old man went to the woman’s house on Monday to pick up her medication, police said the suspect tried to stop her from leaving.
Police arrested the suspect for investigation of second-degree assault, abuse of a family or household member, second-degree terroristic threatening and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and two charges of harassment.
Police seek help in beating of Hilo man
Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in finding two men who beat and robbed a 67-year-old Hilo man last month.
The man told police he was in the downtown Hilo area when two men accosted him at 11 p.m. Oct. 28 and demanded money. When he said he had none, the men beat him until he lost consciousness.
When the man came to, he found that his wallet had been taken from him and left on the ground, police said.
One of the assailants may have been wearing a black jacket, police said.

Car, wallet stolen at gunpoint in Pauoa
Police were looking for a man who stole a car as well as the motorist’s wallet at gunpoint Monday night in Pauoa.
Police said the 37-year-old victim had dropped off a friend in Pauoa just after 8 p.m. Monday when the suspect, brandishing a handgun, demanded his wallet.
The suspect then took the victim’s car, which was recovered a few blocks away.

Body of missing man found near gulch identified
Maui police on Tuesday identified the body of a man found Monday in the rugged Maliko Gulch area near Haiku as that of Tristan Brennan, 29.
Brennan had been missing since Friday and was reported as a missing hiker. Police on Tuesday said they do not suspect foul play. An autopsy will be performed.
Firefighters resumed searching Maliko Gulch Monday morning after suspending the search Sunday night because of darkness. They found Brennan’s body at about 3:30 p.m.
Brennan’s girlfriend reported him missing. He was last seen walking along a pineapple field between 3 and 5 p.m. Friday. Air and ground searches, including 20 volunteers and three Maui detectives, were conducted in Maliko Gulch in eastern Maui from the ocean to Kaluanui Road on Sunday.
