Federal authorities are fining a Guam country club more than $32,000 for workplace violations at the club’s maintenance shop. 

The U.S. Department of Labor said Monday that Guam International Country Club exposed workers to live electrical parts, failed to provide appropriate personal protective equipment for eyes and face, and didn’t provide required forklift training.

The department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration found 15 serious violations. A serious violation means there is substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard about which the employer knew or should have known. 

Two violations were less serious, including failing to prepare and maintain records of work-related injuries and illnesses.

Guam International Country Club has 15 business days to comply, meet with agency’s area director or contest the findings.
