Total recall
» Bumbo International Trust of South Africa and the Consumer Product Safety Commission urge parents and caregivers to never place Bumbo baby seats on tables, countertops, chairs or other raised surfaces. Babies can fall from the seats and suffer head injuries: Infants ages 3-10 months old have fallen out of the seats and suffered skull fractures and other injuries. There have been at least 45 incidents in which infants fell out of a Bumbo seat on an elevated surface after a 2007 voluntary recall, which required that new warnings be placed on the seat to deter elevated use. Since the recall, the company and CPSC have learned that 17 of the 45 infants suffered skull fractures. About 3.85 million baby seats have been sold in the United States since 2003.
