Investigation can’t determine cause of Kailua house fire
An investigation was unable to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed an Enchanted Lake home last week.
The fire was reported at 4:53 p.m. Friday, and the four-bedroom, single-story wooden home at 640 Palawiki St. was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The fire also damaged a house next door. No one was hurt.
Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig said a fire investigator narrowed the area where the fire started to a storage closet inside the garage. The closet contained an electrical circuit breaker panel and a gas water heater, both of which could have been at fault, but the fire investigator could not determine which one was to blame by looking at the evidence and damage, Seelig said.
