A Guinness World Records holder who completed the Honolulu Marathon at age 92 has been inducted into the race’s hall of fame. 

Part-time Honolulu resident Gladys Burrill has been recognized by Guinness as the oldest woman to finish a marathon. On Thursday, Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie honored Burrill, who is known as the “Gladyator.”  

It took her nine hours, 53 minutes and 16 seconds to power-walk and jog to the finish line during last year’s 26-mile race. She completed her first Honolulu marathon in 2004 and went on to complete four in a row. 

Marathon organizers say having recently turned 93, Burrill continues to walk 50 miles a week and recently renewed her Oregon driver’s license. She will participate in the marathon’s 10-kilometer race walk on Sunday.
