Malik Johnson and DeForest Buckner combined for 21 points off the bench as No. 2 Punahou defeated No. 6 Moanalua 76-50 on Tuesday night at Moanalua’s gym.
Buckner turned in 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks for the Buffanblu (5-0). Johnson scored 10 points.
Buckner’s breakaway dunk off a steal capped an 18-9 run to start the second quarter, opening a 19-point lead for Punahou.
Dillon Turk had nine points and Justin Hudcovic chipped in eight for Na Menehune (4-4) in the nonconference matchup. Moanalua committed 22 turnovers against Punahou’s man-to-man, trapping defense.
