Murder probe opens as body in Kalihi shows stab wounds

The death of a man whose lifeless body was found in the middle of a Kalihi street early Wednesday morning is being investigated by police as a murder.

The city Department of Medical Examiner has identified the man as Acme John, 42, of Honolulu.

Police said a pedestrian found John’s body in the middle of the road at Kahai and Kalihi streets about 2:11 a.m. He may have been dead for several hours.

Maj. William Chur, head of the Kalihi patrol district, said the man sustained what appeared to be multiple stab wounds as well as head trauma.

Detectives said the injuries appeared suspicious, although they would not provide details. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Police said they have no possible suspect or suspect descriptions at this point.
