Homeless man faces 2 counts of theft
A 60-year-old homeless man was charged with theft after a security camera recorded a person who appeared to be him stealing expensive sunglasses from a Waikiki store twice in two months.
Thomas Mullen was charged Thursday night with second-degree and third-degree theft. His bail was set at $15,000.
Police said a man entered a Waikiki store July 9 and took a $380 pair of sunglasses. The same man entered the store on Aug. 24 and took a $220 pair.
19-year-old suspected in pair of robberies
Police arrested a 19-year-old man Friday at 6 a.m. on suspicion of robbing a liquor store and a gas station.
Police said the first robbery took place at about 5 p.m. Dec. 13 when a man went into a liquor store, gave the clerk a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Two days later, at about 10 a.m, a man took cash from the register at the Chevron station at the corner of Beretania and Keeaumoku streets.
