Police seek missing man after SWAT case
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating 41-year-old Douglas K. Young, who was last seen Thursday just before police surrounded the Taco Del Mar restaurant that he owns in Waipio.
Police Strategic Weapons and Tactics personnel took up positions outside the restaurant for five hours, acting on a tip that Young may have locked himself inside. When the officers entered the restaurant, it was empty. The area was reopened at 10:30 p.m.
Young was reportedly depressed and has not been in contact with family or friends since Thursday, according to Hawaii News Now.
Anyone with information regarding Young’s whereabouts is asked to call police.
On Thursday police received a report that a man in his 40s barricaded himself in the restaurant at 94-1331 Ka Uka Blvd. at 5:04 p.m. The caller said the man locked himself in the establishment. The SWAT team arrived and the area was evacuated.

Man’s death in cellblock ruled a suicide
The city medical examiner has confirmed that a man hanged himself while being detained in the Honolulu Police Department’s Wahiawa substation cellblock.
Wahiawa resident Luis J. Lopez, 27, died of asphyxiation due to a suicidal hanging on Jan. 7, medical examiners determined during an autopsy.
Lopez was found in his cell alone and unconscious, and with his T-shirt nearby, at about 7 a.m. Jan. 7, police said. He was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. HPD Deputy Chief Dave Kajihiro said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
Lopez, believed to be the husband of a Schofield Barracks soldier, was pulled over on suspicion of speeding near Kamehameha Highway and Kamananui Road at about 4:10 a.m. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, reckless endangering and speeding.
