Four people arrested for allegedly taking 30-pack of beer

Four people were arrested after allegedly trying to get away with a 30-pack of beer from the Kapolei Safeway late Monday night.

Police said two men and one woman, ages 18-21, entered the store at 11:51 p.m., headed toward the liquor display where one of the men grabbed the beer while another attempted to distract a clerk.

When a store manager observing them leave the store asked to see their receipt, one of the men lowered his shoulder and rammed him while attempting to knock him over. When the manager held on to the man as he tried to flee, a second man started punching and striking him.

Witnesses, including store employees, rushed to the aid of the manager. The three suspects fled into a waiting car.

The vehicle later was stopped in Nanakuli by police. After being identified in a field lineup, the four were arrested with three being investigated for robbery and the fourth for driving while under the influence.
