Hawaii News Now reports the road reopened at about 7:15 a.m.
Police said a woman driver hit the pole on Kamehameha Highway and crashed at 2:30 a.m., knocking out power to nearly 500 customers. An Emergency Medical Service supervisor said the woman refused treatment at the scene and was not taken to the hospital.
Hawaii News Now reported that the 34-year-old woman apparently fell asleep while driving her SUV to the North Shore.
Darren Pai, Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman, said crews restored power to all but about 10 customers by 6:30 this morning. But he said it will take most of the day to repair the utility pole.

Initially, police closed Kamehameha Highway at the Joseph P. Leong Bypass at Haleiwa in both directions after the traffic accident for about 2 hours until police began contraflowing one lane of traffic.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
