Weekly honor to BYUH’s Washington
Brigham Young-Hawaii junior forward Shayla Washington was named the conference player of the week in women’s basketball, the first for a Seasider this season.
Washington averaged 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in helping BYUH to a 1-1 week. She also had six steals and went 4-for-7 from 3-point range.
Women’s honor roll
» Kellene Costello, CU: The senior guard scored 16 points with two assists in the Silverswords’ loss to Academy of Art.
» Mana Hopkins, HPU: The senior forward out of Konawaena scored 25 points with nine rebounds in a win over Grand Canyon. She was 9-for-13 from the floor, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range.
» Hillary Hurley, UHH: The senior forward averaged 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Vulcans.
» Taylor Manning, BYUH: The freshman center averaged 16.0 points and 12.5 rebounds with four steals as the Seasiders went 1-1.
Men’s honor roll
» Jet Chang, BYUH: The senior guard scored 25 points while playing all 40 minutes in a 74-73 victory at Dominican. He hit 55 percent from the floor (10-for-18), including 3-for-6 from 3-point range, with two steals and two rebounds.
» Matt Cousins, CU: The senior big man led the Silverswords to a 101-88 win over Academy of Art, scoring 19 points with 12 rebounds. He was 6-for-11 from the field and 7-for-8 from the line.
» Bracken Funk, BYUH: The sophomore forward averaged 10.5 points and 7.0 rebounds to lead the Seasiders to a 2-0 week.

HPU hosts alumni game
The Hawaii Pacific baseball team takes on its alumni Saturday at Hans L’Orange Park The game begins a 2 p.m. Alumni who haven’t yet committed to play can contact Sea Warriors coach Garrett Yukumoto at gyukumoto@hpu.edu.
HPU opens the season vs. Hawaii-Hilo on Feb. 11 at Hans L’Orange.
