Rainbow Wahine golf hosts two tournaments in March, and a College-Am preceding the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at Kapalua Bay.
Hawaii’s annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational is March 13 (36 holes) and 14 (18 holes) at Kaneohe Klipper. There are 14 teams, including UH-Manoa and UH-Hilo, 18th-ranked UC Davis — a future Big West opponent — and 23rd-ranked Texas A&M.
The College-Am, the Wahine’s major fundraiser, is March 25 at Kapalua Bay. A player from each of the 13 teams coming to the Anuenue Spring Break Classic will join three amateur partners in a best-ball format. The registration deadline is Feb. 15 and the cost is $500 per player.
For more information and entry forms, contact UH coach Lori Castillo at 956-4333 or loricc@hawaii.edu.
Anuenue teams include 16th-ranked California, 19th-ranked Tennessee, 20th-ranked Colorado and Japan’s Osaka Gakuin. It will be played March 26 and 27.
Hawaii has eight players on the roster, including senior captain Erika Lundberg and junior Ka‘ili Britos, who led the team in all four fall tournaments. Britos, the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, took seventh in the season-opening Circling Raven Invite.
OJGA membership open
Membership in the Oahu Junior Golf Association is now open for the 2012 season. Juniors who were not members last year must take a playing ability test.
The OJGA began in 1966. Alumni include Dean Wilson and Parker McLachlin.
The organization’s major fundraiser is the Guinea Kop Memorial tournament March 15 at Pearl Country Club. For information, email oahujuniorgolf@gmail.com.
