A 43-year-old Waimanalo man was arrested Friday after setting his father’s vehicle on fire, police said.

The two men were arguing when the son set the car ablaze, police said. Officers responded and found the suspect hiding behind a nearby abandoned building on Waikupanaha Street in Waimanalo. He was arrested for investigation of second-degree arson and fourth-degree criminal property damage.

Honolulu fire Capt. Robert Main said firefighters responded at 3:30 p.m. and had the blaze under control just before 4 p.m. A damage estimate was not available.
