UH financial data destroyed in persistent building blaze

The Honolulu Fire Department spent most of Sunday extinguishing a fire at a building on the University of Hawaii lower campus. The structure housed part of UH's financial management office, which handles payroll, vendor and loan information for students and employees across the 10-campus system.

The fire that engulfed the UH structure caused no injuries, but did force the evacuation of a nearby apartment building and a fitness center on campus.
