Hawaii Supreme Court hits the road for Farrington H.S. hearing

The Hawaii Supreme Court will hold its first hearing at a high school Thursday when it hears oral arguments in a theft case 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Farrington High School auditorium.

The hearing is part of the Courts in the Community project, which will include high court hearings in school settings, the state Judiciary said.

About 200 students from Farrington and Mililani high schools are expected to attend.

The hearing will be for an appeal of a conviction over the theft of a truck and tools from a construction site.

The hearing will be open to the public, but two subsequent sessions involving students questioning the lawyers and the justices will be closed to the public.

The auditorium’s doors will open at 9 a.m., the Judiciary said.
