» Claremont-Mudd-Scripps sophomore Brad Shigezawa (Punahou ’10) shot a 4-over 76 to finish in a tie for ninth place at the first SCIAC tournament of the spring season on Sunday. Pomona-Pitzer sophomore John David Nako (Punahou ’10) finished in a tie for 34th place after shooting an 83.

» Arizona State senior Kahoku Palafox (Maryknoll ’08) tied for third (9.80) on the beam and took fourth (9.825) on the bars against rival Arizona on Friday. Arizona senior Rebecca Cardenas (Hawaiian Mission Academy ’08) earned eighth place (9.750) on bars and a ninth (9.750) on floor in the same meet, won by Arizona over ASU, 195.9 to 195.5. » Cornell sophomore Mackenzie Sato (Iolani ’10) took seventh place (9.475) on the floor exercise in Saturday’s Big Red Invitational featuring Cornell, Ithaca College, West Chester and Southern Connecticut State, helping Cornell take second place in the meet.
» Louisiana State freshman Randi Lau (Myron B. Thompson ’11) earned season-high scores in Friday’s meet against Florida. Lau compiled a 9.825 (tie eighth) on the bars and a 9.825 (tie eighth) on the floor, as well as a 9.75 (12th) on the beam.
» Maryland senior Becca Pang (Punahou ’08) took eighth (9.60) on the beam against North Carolina on Friday.
» UC Davis freshman Tiana Montell (St. Joseph ’11) earned seventh place in the all-around (38.00) in a meet against Sacramento State and Oregon State on Friday. Montell scored a 9.625 (12th) on the vault, a 9.700 (11th) on the bars, a 9.00 (18th) on the beam and a 9.675 (15th) on the floor. Sac State senior Emiko Ono (Roosevelt ’08) scored a 9.625 (12th) on the vault and a 9.600 (14th) on the bars in the same meet.
» Eastern Michigan senior Tracie Tamashiro (Kalani ’08) earned a 9.50 on the beam (fifth place) in a meet against Western Michigan on Saturday.

» Washington freshman Kimberlee Souza (‘Iolani ’11) went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Huskies defeat Texas State 12-3 on Sunday and close out the Fujikawa Classic a perfect 5-0. » East Carolina sophomore Rebecca Lee (Mililani ’10) hit .556 (5-for-9) with four walks, six stolen bases and six runs scored to help her team go 3-1 in the Pirate Classic that ended Saturday. Sophomore Kristi Oshiro (Mililani ’10) hit .357 (5-for-14) with six runs and five stolen bases and Chelsea Kaluhiokalani-Glackin (St. Francis ’10) had two hits and scored three times.
» Loyola Marymount senior Kylie Ahlo (‘Iolani ’08) hit .267 (4-for-15), scoring once and driving in a run, to help the Lions go 4-1 in the UC Davis Tournament that ended Sunday.
» New Mexico State freshman Briana Tovio-Asato (Kapolei ’11) hit .571 (8-for-14) with two doubles and junior Tehani Kaaihue (Kapolei ’09) scored five runs to help the Aggies win their first four games in the Hotel Encanto Invitational over the weekend. Senior Shaleese Javillo (Kamehameha ’08) also scored three runs for the Aggies.
» Longwood (Fla.) freshman Kori Nishitomi (Maryknoll ’11) started all four games and hit second in the lineup, finishing 4-for-9 with a double, six walks, three runs and three RBIs to help the Lancers go 3-1 and win the season-opening Georgia State First Pitch Classic over the weekend.

» Pacific (Ore.) juniors Cat Goya (St. Andrew’s Priory ’09) and Megan Yoshimoto (Mililani ’09), and sophomore Rachel Mizuno (Mililani ’10) won both their singles and doubles matches in a 9-0 shutout of College of Idaho on Sunday.
» Portland sophomore Gabrielle Gorence (Mid-Pacific ’10) won her doubles match in the No. 3 position in a 4-3 loss to Montana on Friday.

» Brigham Young senior middle blocker Futi Tavana (Kauai ’05) hit .500 with seven kills in 12 attempts and added four block assists in a five-set victory over UC San Diego on Saturday.
» Long Beach State sophomore Taylor Crabb (Punahou ’10) had a match-high 14 kills, 11 digs, three assists and an ace in a four-set loss to Pacific (Calif.) on Saturday.
» Southern California freshman setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha ’11) had a game-high 38 assists, seven digs and two block assists in a three-game sweep of Pepperdine on Friday. Sophomore Henry Cassiday (Punahou ’10) added six digs and junior Maddison McKibbin (Punahou ‘09) added a solo block and three block assists for the Trojans. Waves freshman Josh Taylor (Punahou ’11) had 11 kills and an ace for the Waves.
» Grand View (Iowa) freshman Lawrence Villafania (Leilehua ’08) had 22 kills in a win over Clarke University on Saturday. Freshman setter Kyle Hanagami (Waiakea ’11) added 40 assists for the Vikings.
WOMEN’S WATER POLO
» Occidental (Calif.) junior Nanea Fujiyama (Kamehameha ’09) and freshman Koral Gill (Lahainaluna ’11) each scored once in a 10-7 loss to Azusa Pacific and had two goals apiece in a 20-7 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday.
» Harvard junior Aisha Price (Punahou ’09) totaled eight goals on the day, finishing with four apiece in wins over Villanova and Colorado State on Sunday. Shayna Price (Punahou ’10) added three goals for the Crimson in the win over the Wildcats, who got one goal from junior Hannah Ishida (Punahou ’09). Freshman Alex Daley (Mililani ’11) scored a goal for the Rams against Harvard.
