Satellite city hall likely to reopen Tuesday
The satellite city hall at City Square in Kapalama remained closed Friday because of nuisance odors from a construction project next door, but city officials were hopeful it could be reopened Tuesday.
Officials with the Department of Customer Services were working with City Square management to resolve the issue, and the city anticipates the office will reopen following Monday’s Presidents Day holiday, a news release said.
On Thursday, four satellite city hall employees became nauseated along with a female customer standing in line there, said Dennis Kamimura, city licensing administrator for the Division of Motor Vehicles, Licensing and Permits. Two licensing office employees also felt ill.
Capt. Terry Seelig, Fire Department spokesman, said fumes from construction in a space between the satellite city hall and Chuck E. Cheese entered the air conditioning system, spreading the noxious odors to other parts of the building.
