Accused pimp sentenced to 40 years for threatening
A state judge today sentenced an accused pimp who skipped out on bail in the middle of his trial in state court to 40 years in prison.
Joseph Vaimili, 29, was a no-show on June 28, 2010 when the lawyers in the case were scheduled to present the jury their opening statements in Circuit Court for his trial on charges of kidnapping and threatening a prostitute who worked for him with a firearm.
The trial went on without him and the jury found Vaimili guilty of two counts of kidnapping, promoting prostitution, terroristic threatening and using a firearm to threaten the prostitute.
Members of a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force arrested Vaimili in September in Texas and sent him back to Hawaii.
