Hawaiian Telcom has been added Wilshire 5000 stock market index, the company announced today.

The addition was made after the close of the markets Friday as part of the regular monthly adjustments to the stocks that make up the index, Hawaiian Telcom officials said.

“We are pleased with our inclusion in the Wilshire 5000 Total Market IndexSM,” said Eric Yeaman, Hawaiian Telcom’s president and chief executive officer.  “The addition of Hawaiian Telcom to the Wilshire 5000SM will enhance our visibility within the investment community and provide an opportunity to broaden our shareholder base.”

The Wilshire 5000SM is a broad measure of the U.S. stock market that was developed in 1974.
Hawaiian Telcom’s shares closed down 26 cents at $16.49 today on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
