The Japanese honeymooner who died in a motorcycle accident near Crouching Lion on Friday has been identified.

Kaori Teramoto, 27, of Fukuoka Prefecture, died when the rented Harley motorcycle her husband was driving lost control and hit a guardrail along Kamehameha Highway near Crouching Lion about 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Teramoto’s husband was sent to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. His status is uncertain.

Neither the man nor the woman were wearing helmets, police said.

The Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii helped several family members who followed the recently married couple to Hawaii.

There have now been 12 traffic deaths on Oahu’s roads so far this year, compared to nine at this time a year ago.
