Maui police and the U.S. Secret Service arrested a 53-year-old Kula man who allegedly told a police officer he was a federal agent with a dog trained in attack, bomb and drug detection.

Police said the suspect, Abraham Kantzabedian, approached a Maui police officer in December and January with what appeared to be an official government identification card and made claims that appeared to be untrue.

Police, working with the U.S. Secret Service, arrested Kantzabedian for impersonating a law enforcement officer on Feb. 9 and then arrested him again on federal charges Tuesday.

Police said a search warrant served on Kantzabedian’s home turned up evidence of criminal activity.
