Police investigate a shooting on the H-1 Freeway Friday night in Aiea.

A 65-year-old Kakaako man was arrested after a drive-by shooting on H-1 freeway in Aiea Friday night, police said.

The shooting apparently followed what was described as "a traffic incident on the freeway." The 65-year-old motorist fired a gun at another moving vehicle driven by another man, 23, while in the eastbound lanes of H-1 while the victim was trying to exit at the Aiea cut-off about 9:30 p.m., police said.

Two bullets struck the victim’s vehicle but the man himself was not injured.

The suspect, who was driving a blue Chevy Blazer, fled but was later positively identified and arrested at his Coral Street apartment about 11:35 p.m., police said. He was being held today at the police cell block pending a charge of second-degree attempted murder.

It is unclear what happened prior to the shooting, police said.
