With spring break just a couple of weeks away, here are some options to keep the kids busy while classes are out.
Children’s Discovery Center’s "Preschool Discovery Camp": 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for potty-trained keiki ages 3 and 4, includes a morning snack, lunch and nap time. » March 12 to 16: "Feathered Friends" session focuses on birds and offers a way for keiki to "fly, strut, squawk" and discover their own set of "wings."

» March 12 to 16: Session 1 is "Backyard Adventures," which runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and explores the great outdoors as kids hunt for rocks, grow crystals, examine fossils and observe insects. Session 2 is "Aussie Animals," which runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and offers a virtual journey to Australia, learning about its diverse land, culture and unusual animals such as koalas, emus and possums. Cost: $150 per session, $250 for both sessions ($125/$200 for members).
» March 19 to 23: Session 3 is "Storybook Science," which runs from 9 a.m. to noon and explores science concepts using popular children’s books to help keiki learn about eggs, seeds, states of matter, rain forests and the butterflies. Session 4 is "Home Grown Cooking," which runs from 1 to 4 p.m., and teaches children basic cooking skills and how to make delicious meals using ingredients that can be grown at home. Cost: $150 for Session 3, $155 for Session 4, $255 for both sessions ($125/$130/$205 for members).
Kama‘aina Kids’ Spring Intersession: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 12 to 16 for students in grades K to 6. Locations include Mililani Tech Park, Laniakea YWCA (downtown Honolulu) and the following elementary schools: Salt Lake, Waimalu, Keoneula, Waikele, Ben Parker, Enchanted Lake and Hahaione. Also offered from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Hokulani Elementary School. Programs begin at 8 a.m. and include arts and crafts, cooperative games, excursions, singing, dancing, "weird science" and more. Honolulu Zoo’s "Vacation Adventures: Day Camp": 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for students in grades 1 to 6. Learn about animals from zoo keepers, create animal arts and crafts, play lawn games and more. Cost: $215 ($200 for members). After-care available from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. for $60 per week ($50 for members).
» March 12 to 16: "Kids for Conservation" session is about taking care of the earth as children learn about protecting natural resources and saving wildlife.
» March 19 to 23: "Movin’ and Groovin’ (Locomotion)" session takes a look at how animals move through their environment and techniques they use to find food, shelter and each other.
