CLIMATE CHANGE: Wayne Christiansen of Hawaii Kai isn’t accustomed to wearing a sweater on Waikiki Beach, but the shoreline by that name in Salem, Mass., can get pretty cold in January. “One night the temperature was 15 degrees, not your typical Waikiki climate,” he said. Christiansen was in Salem over the New Year’s holiday visiting his sister and mother. His sister, Carol Short, took the photo.
