The Hawaii baseball team took care of business all five games against Wagner College this weekend.
The way the Rainbows took care of that business on Sunday was the most impressive.
UH got a complete effort offensively and defensively, parlaying 13 hits into a 19-3 victory over the Seahawks on Sunday to close out a five-game series sweep at Les Murakami Stadium.
Breland Almadova got a nice ovation from a crowd of 1,086, scoring on an inside-the-park home run in the eighth inning.
He finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and was one of six Rainbows to score at least twice in the game.
"We kind of wish we could have done that throughout the whole series, but it’s good we ended strong and have some momentum heading into the Wichita series," Almadova said. "One through nine and even the guys that came in halfway through the game all hit the ball well."

Hawaii (6-3) has swept all three five-game series played under head coach Mike Trapasso. The ‘Bows fell three runs short on Sunday of matching their combined total in the first four games.
"I think we needed that and I thought it was important for our offense to go out there, put up some runs, get some good swings and feel good about themselves," Trapasso said. "We’ll take those five wins that hopefully gave our guys some confidence and then tee it up against a real good Shockers team coming up."
Nobody benefited more from the extra game in the series than freshman Kaeo Aliviado.
Entering the game hitting .136 (3-for-22), Aliviado reached base all six times, going 4-for-4 with two walks, two runs and two RBIs.
"I’m just trying to tell myself not to do too much, but come in as a freshman and do your job and hit the ball hard," he said.
Almadova set a career high with four RBIs, hitting second in the lineup for the fourth straight game. Second baseman Stephen Ventimilia, who now hits leadoff, was 0-for-1 but scored two runs and had two RBIs, getting on base every way imaginable.
In nine games, Ventimilia has drawn 15 walks and posted a .524 on-base percentage.
"We did it more so just because Stephen is getting on base so often and we’ll keep doing that for the forseeable future," Trapasso said.
Max Duval’s two-run single came as part of a seven-run first that the Rainbows matched with seven more in the eighth.
Wagner (0-5) used seven different pitchers in the game, including starter Nick Pavia (0-1), who allowed seven runs while recording only one out to take the loss.
Junior Corey MacDonald (1-0) earned the win for the Rainbows, allowing one run on three hits in five innings.
Nick Alfano led off the third with a double and scored the Seahawks’ first run. Wagner had the bases loaded, thanks to two hit batters before MacDonald got Tommy Higgins to fly out to center to end the inning.
"I didn’t mind the hit batsmen because that’s the one thing we talked to him about after last weekend because when we told him to (pitch inside) and he wasn’t," Trapasso said. "He got five innings and it’s hard sometimes to stay focused on the mound when after the first inning the game is kind of in hand and you’re getting long innings in the dugout."
Four UH pitchers got an inning of work to finish the game, including redshirt junior Jim MacWilliam, who retired all three batters he faced in his UH debut.
UH will return to Les Murakami Stadium for the first of a four-game set against Wichita State on Thursday at 6:35 p.m.
