A 2001 Yamaha motorcycle involved in an accident on Kaonohi Street in Aiea remained at the scene of the crash Tuesday night as police completed their investigation.

A motorcyclist who died Friday from injuries sustained in a crash earlier this week has been identified by medical examiners as Warren White Jr., 43, of Aiea.

Police said White was driving a blue 2001 Yamaha R-1 motorcycle that crashed into a black 2001 Volkswagen Golf Tuesday afternoon.

The car was trying to make a U-turn on Kaonohi Street into the path of the motorcycle about half a mile south of Iho Place at 5:32 p.m.

The motorcycle slammed into the front quarter panel of the passenger side of the car, police said. The impact caused White to be ejected from his motorcycle.

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition where he died about 11:30 a.m. Friday.

White was not wearing a helmet. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash. It was raining lightly when the crash happened.

White’s death was 15th on Oahu’s roads so far this year. There were nine at this date in 2011.

White was also the sixth motorcyclist killed in 2012. There were nine total in 2011.
