Storm water runoff from Tuesday’s heavy rains will temporarily close one of Oahu’s favorite snorkeling spots today.

The city says Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve is closed today because of hazardous conditions caused by heavy rains and surface runoff.

Three city golf courses may also close today , depending on the weather and condition of the course. Ala Wai, Ewa Villages and West Loch were closed Tuesday because of the heavy rains.

The city said in a news release that workers at Hanauma Bay will move sand to repair areas inundated by water. Debris in the bay is also causing unsafe conditions for swimming.

The nature preserve is expected to reopen on Thursday if there aren’t further weather delays.
