Vulcans’ Mack earns conference honor
Hawaii-Hilo junior swingman Terrell Mack earned the player of the week honor in men’s basketball after helping the Vulcans go 1-1 in the final week of the season.
Mack led the conference in scoring for the week, averaging 23.5 points and shooting 63 percent from the field. He also averaged 5.5 rebounds and was 10-for-12 from the line.
Hawaii-Hilo’s Hurley is player of week
Hawaii-Hilo senior forward Hillary Hurley finished her two-sport career for the Vulcans by picking up the final player of the week honor of the women’s basketball season.
Hurley led the conference in rebounding for the week with 29 as the Vulcans went 1-1. She scored 48 points, going 17-for-27 from the field and 14-for-16 from the line.
Presidents approve hoops tournaments
Beginning next season, the PacWest will have a six-team championship tournament for both men’s and women’s basketball.
The approval was given by the league’s presidents during last week’s winter conference call.
BASEBALL
St. Cloud State sweeps UHH in baseball
St. Cloud State (Minn.) swept Hawaii-Hilo (4-10) in a baseball doubleheader on Monday at Wong Stadium.
The Huskies won the first game 7-1 as Travis Enger led the way with a homer and two RBIs. St. Cloud State (11-1) took the second game 5-1 as starter Kyle Fischer and reliever Scott Sanderson combined for a six-hitter.
